Role of the Election Commission of India in Strengthening Democracy
Introduction:- Democracy does not just mean voting; it ensures that every vote is free and counts. Maintaining electoral fairness in a vast and diverse country like India is a challenging task, which is the responsibility of the Election Commission of India (ECI). The Election Commission is an all-India body that is common to both the Central government and the State governments. It must be noted here that the commission does not deal with the elections to the Municipalities and Panchayats in the states.
